Review of Windows 7

I have had a chance to review Windows 7 and this is the true upgrade to Windows XP. It is not as intrusive as Vista from a security perspective and does not appear to be as locked down as Vista either. The 64-bit version is incredibly fast, especially on my Quad-Core system that I have sitting next to me.
Highlights:
- Easy installation process, easier than Windows XP.
- Extensive list of supported hardware. If your hardware worked in Vista, you are almost guaranteed it will work in Windows 7
- Visually appealing interface
- Very customizable
Lows:
- My scanner appears to not be working (likely not supported, but not convinced of this yet)
More will come later as I am in the middle of installing most of my applications. I did commit to a fresh install as my Windows XP install was getting somewhat corrupted.
Until I blog again….

I’m looking forward to the upgrade. Ran Windows 7 RC1 this spring – it worked well, but had no drivers for my Logitech webcam, to I had to roll back to Vista. To give Vista some credit, I had very little trouble with it also.

If you still have your 328IS, don’t bother replacing the 11-button OBDC unit. They are all crap and won’t last very long. I’ve had three in my car (all new), and every one had failed in short order. Even the local BMW store knows they are a worthless POS.
Maybe the upgrade to 18-button solves the reliability issue. (Not sure).
good luck

I did replace it with a 18-button OBC back in April and it is highlighted in my BMW (“My Garage”) blog from back in April.
