Twittering proves to be faster than news media

The online community has done it again, I found out about the US Airways landing in the Hudson River before the News Media (specifically CNN) came out with a breaking news alert on their website. This photo was likely one of the first taken moments after the airliner had went done. More pictures will likely come out when citizens will get around to posting them from their respective portable capture devices….
I am sure there is an amateur video of the entire incident as well. This is just one of the images I have come across that was taken by Janis Krums who Twittered it from his iPhone who was on one of the first ferries to respond to the accident.

In this picture, you can see passengers on the raft and others just standing on the wing in frigid cold waters in the Hudson River.

The power of the Internet and Smartphones at its best.

However, more importantly, everyone got off the airline safely and without any major incidents so I send my praise to the Captain of the flight for landing this plane in a controllable fashion that allowed everyone to get out of plane alive and without injury.
