Welcome 2009
2008 has come and gone. We are now in 2009 and I am hoping for many good things to come in 2009.
For starters, the United States will have a new President as of January 20th. It will be interesting to see how the United States will be viewed starting the day President-Elect Barack Obama is sworn in as the President. Inauguration day will be historical no doubt.
Hopefully, good things will come from the financial industry bailout and with the bailout of the big three (well, GM and Chrysler for now). It appears February 17th is the deadline those two companies have to submit their restructuring plans to Congress. What this means for GM’s Saab division is yet to be determined as it is assumed the provided money is meant to stay within the borders of the United States. GM’s respective divisions around the world will have to go to their respective governments for financial assistance.
The Parliament of Canada resumes session on January 26th. What will happen after the Conservatives present their budget is really up in the air. But with Ignatieff as head of the Liberal party, a coalition with the Bloc Quebecois is unlikely surface again, or at least I hope it doesn’t.
Personally, it has been almost a year since my ACL surgery and I keep getting stronger and stronger. I am back to Ultimate, skiing and all that good stuff. I hope to maintain my health throughout the years so I can compete in some triathlons in the summer.
Over and out….
