Coalition gov’t…..say what???

Most Canadians have no doubt already heard about the proposed Coalition government that has been formed between the Liberals, NDP with support from the Bloc Quebecois. If a no-confidence vote passes on Monday, December 8th and our Governor General Michelle Jean supports the formation of a Coalition Government, then we will have a new government being led by none other than Stephane Dion.

But wait….didn’t the liberals lose seats??? Oh wait…..did Dion not indicate that he was to step down as leader of the liberal party when the Liberal Caucus is held in May???

In my eyes, the math just doesn’t add up!!! Regardless of your political leanings, the Canadian public voted to keep the Conservatives in power via a strengthened minority government. If you exclude the Bloc Quebecois, the NDP and Liberals combined still do not hold a majority. It was only through the “support” of the
Bloc Quebecois that this was possible. I could go off on a tangent about the Bloc Quebecois, but I won’t, as I could go on for days about this particular party.

The bottom line….we just had an election. If the liberals/NDP do not like the result, then tough. They should let the people of Canada decide, as leading this country is not a game. The economy and our future depend on a properly led government with the right people in power. It should not be a result of some back door deal as that is not a democracy.

Thoughts anyone?

Paul
