9 days and I am improving….
So…it is amazing how much improvement you see each and every day through Physio exercises. I am 9 days out of surgery and can walk short distances at home without the need of a crutch. I still use it when I go up the stairs and I do have the ability to bend my knee enough to make each stair as I walk upstairs. I do not put as much weight on it as I do when I walk, but it helps to be able to bend the knee.
I am pleased with the progress, however, since we have snow outside, I am still required to use the Zimmer Splint for the next couple of weeks. And, no I have not been cleared for driving just yet. I think that may happen by the middle of next week, which will be right on queue with the 2-3 weeks post-op average.
Prior to this new operative technique, people used to have a full cast for numerous weeks. I can’t imagine what people went through mentally and then physically after the cast was removed. I am glad medical techniques have improved.
I am sure that in 10 to 20 years time, they may actually invent an enzyme, or some kind of nano-technique to make the ACL regrow and reconnect again.
Personally, I am hoping I can get out on my own by the end of next week, but I am at the mercy of my physiotherapist. I am hoping I progress enough that I will have the ability to venture out into society, or at least to the work place.
More about my ACL reconstruction later
What seems to be of interest to me lately are the Presidential Primaries that are being held in the United States. I heard recently that the Republican candidates are having more financial difficulties then their fellow Democrats. It is speculated that without additional funds, the only Republican left standing may very well be Mitt Romney from Massachusetts as he is the richest among the candidates.
Whichever Republican is left standing, they have a tough battle against the Democrats. Both Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama are very strong candidates. John Edwards without a doubt is a solid individual as well, but in my eyes, Clinton and Obama have the edge.
Now…you may be wondering, why do I have an interest in the US elections? Well…the fate of really the economic world pretty much depends on who becomes the next President. Canada is not immune to this as the United States is our biggest economic trading partner.
But I think this is enough blogging for now…and I hope you are enjoying my blogs.
